C++ reading
The C++ reference material to keep open while you work through DSA.
C++ is your DSA and contest language. You need it fluent enough to solve problems, not expert enough to argue about the standard. This page is reference material you keep open while solving.
Docs to keep open
- cppreference, C++ reference, plus the standard library page. This is the STL dictionary for the A2Z sheet.
- C++ Core Guidelines: Bjarne's rule book. Skim the sections that match what you are writing, not all of it at once.
Canonical
- Effective Modern C++ by Scott Meyers: 42 C++11 and C++14 habits. Read one or two items a week alongside A2Z. Do not binge it.
Rotating blogs
- Modernes C++ by Rainer Grimm, with the full catalog: modern features explained in exam-sized bites.
- Awesome C++: library discovery.
- Awesome modern C++: a leaner curated set.
Scope guard
C++ stays a tool for online assessments and contests in this plan. Custom allocators and template metaprogramming are deliberate skips. The operating rules apply.
Common mistakes
- Reading the Core Guidelines end to end in one week. Pick the section you need.
- Collecting C++ libraries you will never use in a DSA solution.
- Spending a contest week on a C++ rabbit hole instead of Go project work.
